A Bit Too Late

A serviceman died not too long ago and the investigations are still underway. There are many who lament the loss of life at such a young age. He was 24, with his career just beginning to get underway.

I really wonder if the only time people get recognised or noticed are when they're dead. People have a strange habit of only being appreciative when its too late. I know there gave been times when I really thought that the only time people would care was if they saw my hanging body or when my brains were shot out.

In the words of Fort Minor, it seems one thing has been true all along, you don't really know what you've got 'til it's gone.

I've decided a time ago that I wouldn't be like that. That I wasn't going to wait till the body becomes lifeless before I realise how important somebody has been. Because you can cry all you want, but he/she isn't coming back anymore.
